Hi! I’m Wax.

I’m originally from Philadelphia, PA. After a lot of moving for the craft, I ended up here in LA in 2006. I live in North Hollywood, CA with my husband Rick who is a DP, and our two furry children BetaMax and The Mighty Moosh. RIP 2019 to our darling Yoda the Production Dog, for all you fans out there.

HOW DID I GET HERE?

I have been obsessed with TV and Film for as long as I can remember. Finding a love for creating stories when I was a kid with my toys and a camera. To this day, I make no apologies for how much time I spend studying it either. Always looking for fresh perspectives and visual devices.

I studied Drama at Performing Arts School in Philadelphia for junior high, and was then accepted into the Drama Department at LaGuardia High School, also known as the “Fame” school in NYC. But soon, realized my love of the craft was on the other side of the camera. However, I believe studying drama, scene work, comedy and character development for 8 years immensely helped as a Producer and Editor.

I started in Audio Production out of college. After going as high as I could in Radio as a Senior Producer for a nationally syndicated, political talk show, I decided to change lanes, joining CNN Atlanta in 2001 as a Video Journalist. What does that mean? You start from the bottom and work your way up, trying all aspects of production until you find your passion. After being a Floor Director, Prompter Operator, Script Ripper, AP, Media Manager, AE and Graphics Operator, I decided being an overall creator of compelling content was my calling. CNN hired me on as an Avid Editor in 2003 and I have been mastering the craft of Documentaries ever since.

Why is my list of credits so short?

That’s an easy answer. Once I joined CNN in 2001, there were so many opportunities there, that I didn’t finally force myself to leave until 2011. It was a hard decision, but I was now a Senior Editor/Producer, had the honor of working on many long form shows and specials, live and taped, but CNN’s long form work was becoming less and less. I wanted to do more.

I left to take a staff job as an in-house Sizzle Editor for Original Productions in 2011. I respect the concept of paying your dues, so I started there and have been building out my resume ever since with projects I truly care about.

Over the past 11 years, I have worked on Docuseries, Talk Shows, Investigative Series and multiple Feature Documentary Films. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

WHAT DO I SPECIALIZE IN?

I believe someone can make or break a show in their attitude towards the project and the people, so I take pride in being the calm and confident source of stability within any storm, of which you can always guarantee there will be.

Known for my work on Social Justice / Investigative / Environmental / Pop Culture / Travel / Political Docuseries, Documentary Films and Shorts.

I love doing high gloss, as well as hard and impactful projects. I’m proud to be known as a fast, agreeable and adaptable.

Whether 12 cameras or single camera, a new show with an undeveloped format, or an established show with set styles, I can lead or follow.

So hit me up. Let me help you create something award winning.
